Go abroad

Today I’ll share about my experience with travel abroad.

I have been to 5 countries Thailand, Cambodia, Italy, Switzerland, and Ghana.

There are 3 type of ways I’ve traveled.

 The first way is Tourism.

I went to Italy and Switzerland.

It was so fun time.

The second way is backpacking.

I went backpacking in Thailand and Cambodia. When I was in Thailand and Cambodia, I ate for the first time bugs.

At first when I saw them, I thought it would be impossible to eat.

However, I knew I would not have this opportunity in japan.

It was a good challenge for me.

So I ate bugs, I don’t love it. I don’t miss it.

But I’m glad I got to experience the unique food of another culture.

Another good experience from that time was testing my English abilities by being overseas.

I would talk with many people. In order to buy food or souvenir or to visit different landmarks I would need to use English.

It was not easy but I was surprised and proud of my ability to communicate with others. It was a great challenge for me.

The third way is volunteering in Ghana.

Life in Ghana is so different than life in japan. There is no Wi-fi or running water. We had to get water from a well.

While in Ghana our group volunteered with an NPO. This NPO helped children without families by creating community and helping with education.

During that time, as they shared Ghana culture with us. We shared Japanese culture with them. These children had never seen a Japanese person before.

It was a great experience to share Japanese culture with them. We taught them Origami and calligraphy.

Japan and Ghana are very different. Ghana’s economy is not very strong. Japan’s economy is very strong.

Even thought Ghana’s economy is not strong I think they have more freedom than the Japanese. After lunch, if they want, they can go surfing. In japan, the image of office workers is they leave early in the morning, go on crowded train, work all day and leave late at night.

This made me think about which is a better life. To have many things but less freedom or few things and more freedom.

As I visit other countries I hope to continue learn from them and grow in respect for their culture.

I want to continue to think globally I hope that together we can create a global community.

Thank you for your time.
